In 2006 Loook 07 commissioned twelve photographers to run a series of photographic workshops with eight groups of participants in Manchester. The participants come from four wards of the city and included over 55¹s; people with disabilities and young people who are seeking education and employment.
Each group took part in a series of six workshops and made work that expressed what is distinctive about each group’s experience of the city. Some of the photographs can be found in our ‘Online Gallery’ and will be shown at Manchester Art Gallery from the 14 April (see ‘Exhibitions’).
The artists who worked on the workshops were: Charlotte Barnes, Paula Carley, Bec Garland, Gemma MacAlpine, Paul McCann, Rebecca McKnight, Cathy Matthias, Jessica Mayo, Ruby Porter , Leila Romaya, Alan Taylor and Yasmin Yaqub.
- Paul McCann and Leila Romaya worked with young people at the ‘Education to Employment’ E2E in Longsight:
- Charlotte Barnes and Ruby Porter worked with young people at M13 in Ardwick:
- Gemma MacAlpine and Jessica Mayo worked with young women at a Great Places Housing Association hostel
